For Your Information An Update from The Cassady Company, Inc.
Providing Solutions for Water, Wastewater, & Storm Water Problems
Bids Opened
on South Haleyville Industrial Area Road Improvements
In August 1995, The Cassady Company contracted with the City of Haleyville
to provide engineering services for the rehabilitation of the South Haleyville
Industrial Area Road. This project was funded by a grant provided by the
Alabama Department of Transportation through the Alabama Industrial Access
Bond Authority. The project is made up of a $432,410 grant and consists
of widening an 18 road to a 22 roadway, asphalt resurfacing,
and drainage improvements. The low bidder for this project was Dunn Construction
Company with a bid in the amount of $381,199.07. The Engineers estimate
for this project was $375,000. The project should be completed within 90
calendar days.
The Cassady
Company Adds Chilton Water to Client List
The Cassady Company has contracted with the Chilton Water Authority to provide
a system model which will help them in their 1996 County -Wide Extension
Project. The system model will be used to aid in water line sizing and future
water tank locations. This model will also aid in knowing what chlorine
residuals are in the system. This model is based on the Hardy- Cross system
and should provide Chilton Water Authority with information about the system
that has not been available to them in the past.
Design
Work Begins on Jackson, Alabama 1995 CDBG Street Rehabilitation Project
The survey for the Jackson Street project has now been completed. The Cassady
Company is currently in the design process of the project. A computer automated
system is being used to do this project. Existing features were located
in the field with a total station and the coordinates and elevations downloaded
into the computer back at the office. With the help of Eagle Point Software,
the field data is now being converted into design information. This software
will provide complete drawings and calculations on volume and road layouts
for use during the bidding and construction processes. The process of the
Engineer being involved in the field survey and design of the project reduces
the amount of lost information which can occur when communication breaks
down between the Surveyor, Engineer, and Draftsman. With this service, the
client ends up with a better designed project.

Comments
Our appreciation to our clients cannot be expressed enough. You have all
been great in our first year. The Cassady Company continues to grow and
receive new contracts. At this time, we are being very choosy about taking
on new clients; realizing the fact that we have a commitment to our existing
clients to provide a quality service. You may have noticed that we have
upgraded our telephone system in an effort to better manage it. Please be
patient with our system and us as we are working very hard to meet your
needs. Please let us know if you have any problems. Communication is a very
important part of our business.

Bass Fishing
I continue to hear good fishing reports from around the State. As usual,
these reports come from someone else who has had a good day fishing. I have
been fortunate enough lately, however, to fish several times and have done
okay, but someone always does better. For those of you who do get to fish,
I wish you the best and hope you can catch a good mess of fish.
The Latest
from WallStreet
WallStreet still seems to be bullish as the market continues to rise. There
is still concern over the cost of raw materials and commodities going up
and causing increased cost to the consumer. Without wages being increased,
these costs cannot be absorbed in the future. Therefore, there are signs
of the economy coming to a stop or declining in the future.
